ASIAN MARKETS

Dismal information drags down Asian stocks
Poor economic data and earning estimates dragged down Asian markets Friday. Japan reported that its December industrial output was down 9.6%, causing a ripple effect. The country's Nikkei 225 Average dropped 3.3%, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 slipped 0.7%. New Zealand's NZX 50 Index inched down 0.2%, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index lost 1.4% and Singapore's Straits Times Index fell 1.2%. MarketWatch (29 Jan.)
