U.S. Futures Point to Mixed Open
Stock futures were mixed, as investors geared up for retail sales and another wave of corporate results. Nasdaq futures slumped nearly 20 points on Cisco's weak earnings.

Rough January Seen for Retailers
Wal-Mart reported a 2.1% increase in U.S. same-store sales in January, excluding gasoline. Other retailers are expected to report worse sales than in recent moribund months.

Asian shares drop on concerns about consumer spending
Asian indexes declined Thursday after rising during the two previous sessions as investors became more concerned about consumer spending in the U.S. The MSCI index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan gave up 0.5%, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 Average dropped 0.8%, while indexes in Australia, Taiwan and South Korea each slid.
